Hello everyone
It’s been a busy and blustery few weeks down at the garden, and the team have been working hard to make sure we're winter ready. If you’ve wandered by recently, you’ll have spotted our brand-new step-over dead hedges taking shape. They’re not only looking fantastic but will also give the wildlife some cosy nooks for the colder months ahead.
With the temperatures dipping, our cold-sensitive plants have been fleeced up and are now wrapped snugly like little horticultural burritos. Fingers crossed they snooze happily through winter and wake up raring to go in spring.
A big shout-out to Michael, who has been busy assembling our new plastic greenhouse. It’s looking brilliant already. We can’t wait to put it to use next year when seed-sowing season rolls around.
As we head toward Christmas, the garden is gently winding down for a well-earned rest. That means no Saturday sessions until after Christmas, so enjoy the slower pace and a well-deserved break.
But before we pause for the holidays, we squeezed in something rather magical… On 6 December, Izzi and Michelle hosted a wonderful Christmas wreath-making session. They guided us through the art of bending and twisting willow to create the wreath base (trickier than it looks!) and then we got creative with leaves, berries, and flowers. The results were beautiful — festive, fragrant, and delightfully unique.
We also want to send a big thank-you to The Enham Trust for donating a gorgeous Christmas tree to the garden. It’s now proudly displayed outside the polytunnel, fully decorated and bringing a sparkle of festive cheer to the space. If you've not got your tree yet, why not go and visit their Christmas tree field, it's beautiful. Full details here: Pick Your Own Christmas Tree | Enham Trust
As the year winds down, we just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has volunteered, visited, watered, weeded, built, planted, or simply cheered us on during 2025. The garden grows because of you.
Wishing every one of you a warm, joyful, and peaceful Christmas.
See you in the New Year for more muddy-booted fun! 🎄✨
Kind regards
Vicki, Michael and Maureen
